Gmailから新年のメッセージ

2004 was quite a year for us! Here's a quick recap:
（2004年は、我々にとって大変な一年だった、ふう。軽くおさらいしてみよう）

April 1st: Gmail launches. Some thought it was a joke, but we were serious about our gig of free space. (The real April Fool's jokers wanted to give people the moon.)
（4月1日： Gmailリリース。冗談だと思った人々もいたようだが、1GBスペースの無料提供はネタじゃなかった。（本当にエイプリルフールな人々は、みんなにいっぱい食わせたかったようだけど。））

July 10th: Users can import contacts. Suddenly, keeping in touch with faraway friends becomes a lot easier.
（7月10日： アドレス帳にインポートが可能に。突如として遠くの友人たちとずっと楽に連絡できるようになったわけ。）

October 9th: We finally add 'Save Drafts.' No one is more excited than we are about never again having to answer "Why don't you have a way for users to save drafts?"
（10月9日： やっと下書き保存機能が追加。これでもう「下書きは保存できないの？」という質問に答えなくて済む。もちろん誰よりも喜んだのは我々自身だ。）

November 7th: Ideas POP into mind. Why not offer POP and auto-forwarding for free? Sure. Why not?
（11月7日： いいアイデアがひょいと浮かんだ（＝“POP”した）。POPアクセスと自動転送機能を無料で提供したらどうだ？そうだその通り！）

And of course, there's the one thing that we've been doing every day... trying to build a great email service for you. After all, it's all about you. We read the blogs, the forums, and every testimonial.
（そしてもちろん、我々が毎日やり続けていることが一つある：
みんなのためにグレートなメールサービスを作ろうと努力すること。結局、すべてきみたち次第なんだ。我々はいろんなBlogや、掲示板や、レビューや評価の類に目を通している。）

We appreciate all the nice things you say. There are so many ways for
you to contact us, but so few for us to speak to you. So as we start
the new year, we just want to say:
"Thanks."
（きみたちの賛辞すべてに我々は感謝している。ただ、きみたちから我々にコンタクトする方法は数多くあるが、その逆はほんの少ししかない。だから新年にあたって我々から伝えたいことはただひとこと：
「ありがとう。」）
